When Lu Lu and her husband immigrated to Canada to be with their children, they kept busy. Lu Lu loved being with other seniors in our Golden Age Garden program for Mandarin speakers but when doctors diagnosed her with the onset of Alzheimer’s Disease, she was determined to stay active. The Adult Day Program at our Senior Activities Centre helps her do just that.

The Program helps older seniors stay mentally and physically engaged, offering gentle fitness, healthy lunch and snacks, celebrations, workshops and discussions about everything from current events to health and wellness. Lu Lu would come every day if she could - “I’m sad because I’m so forgetful but I still want to do everything I can.”

More important than the activities is the chance to socialize with peers. “There’s a sense of belonging, togetherness and happiness. The days pass so quickly at the Centre. I like everything here – I can’t pick just one favourite thing!”
