Connections: Helping Immigrants Find Work
If you’re new to Canada, on social assistance and having trouble finding work, try Connections. This FREE 18-week employment program helps you improve your skills and provides your first Canadian work experience.

You must be:
  • An immigrant to Canada or a refugee claimant with a valid work permit for one year
  • Currently receiving assistance from Ontario Works
  • Speak English as a Second Language at an intermediate level (level 6 or higher)

18 weeks: 12 weeks training and six weeks work placement

When you join Connections, you will:

  • Upgrade your business communication skills
  • Learn the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Become certified in Customer Service Excellence 
  • Build job skills
  • Gain Canadian work experience through a six-week co-op placement
  • Receive continued support from one of our Job Developers after finishing Connections
