  • Case Manager, Enhanced Follow-Up Supports

    The Case Manager, Enhanced Follow-up Support Services is part of Urban Health and Homelessness Services (UHHS) and is responsible for providing specialized enhanced follow-up supports to adults and seniors exiting homelessness. Working from a trauma informed, client centered, harm reduction approach, case managers provide one-to-one supports, home visits and telephone contact to assist participants in identifying and achieving self determined goals. Working closely with participants and external service providers, the case manager liaises with and coordinates access to services that assist with housing stabilization and community integration.

  • Child Care Manager - Canoe Landing

    The Manager, Child Care (Manager) reports to the Senior Manager, Child Care (Senior Manager). The incumbent works as part of a team of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) to create a safe, caring, and educational place for children at one child care site. Some Child Care Centers are located inside Toronto District School Board Schools (TDSB and TCDSB) while others are stand-alone locations across the city. The Manager ensures day to day operational excellence at the child care site and will provide quality care for children by planning, implementing, and administering age appropriate programs. They will perform administrative tasks required to support the smooth operation of the child care program. The Manager Child Care will provide direct and indirect support to team members to help empower and support them in implementing a responsive, accepting, and developmentally appropriate program for the children and families who belong to the child care center. The Manager is expected to lead by example while providing support and training at the child care center. There are multiple child care centers at The Neighbourhood Group Community Services (TNGCS), and each Manager is stationed at one location however, they may provide coverage at other sites from time to time. It is expected that the Manager provide exceptional customer service experience to families as they represent TNGCS in a public-facing role.

  • Community Mediation Worker

    The Community Mediation Worker supports the operations of our community mediation and restorative justice services, in collaboration with the Team Lead, volunteer mediators, and student and interns.   • Community Worker - Contract

    In conjunction with the Senior Manager and other staff, assess the needs of clients to prepare and implement care plans appropriate to each client.   • Corner Drop-In Relief

    The Corner Drop-in is a busy, dynamic program that serves ~ 200 participants each day. We provide daytime shelter, nutritious hot food, primary health care services from on-site nurses, doctors and psychiatrists, information and help finding affordable housing, mental health support, voluntary financial trusteeship, substance use counselling, workshops and activities. Relief staff will work as a member of the Drop-In team to provide an enriched drop-in setting for homeless and socially isolated adults. Working alongside staff, volunteers and peer workers, relief staff will ensure a safe and welcoming environment. This position works on an on-call, as-needed basis to replace door and/or floor staff in drop in. Relief staff will help maintain order and safety, participate in crisis intervention, assist drop-in members with accessing services, and make referrals.

  • Eviction Prevention in the Community (EPIC) Worker - Contract

    The position provides mobile, rapid eviction prevention services to vulnerable households across greater Toronto as referred by the City’s EPIC Intake and Assessment Team. The EPIC worker provides assessments, referrals, creates a client centered action plan and provides other supports as needed using a Housing First model. In consultation with the team, the EPIC worker will liaise with landlords, coordinate mediation and conflict resolution as appropriate and provide short-term housing stabilization supports. This position is part of the Urban Health and Homelessness Services Department and works to provide support to those who are at imminent risk of eviction.

    The Human Resources Administrator – Recruitment & Program Support position assists the Human Resources Department with a wide variety of administrative tasks including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and general program support.   • Mobile Shelter Support Program Shift Lead - Contract (2 Positions)

    As an MSSP Shift Lead, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating day-to-day shift activities and operations. Leveraging your own personal experience with homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use, you will serve as a guiding force, assisting, inspiring, and mentoring both clients and fellow team members on their journeys toward well-being. Utilizing a trauma-informed approach, you will empower individuals to navigate and access services, de-escalate challenging situations, share valuable resources and information, build trust and rapport, facilitate communication with clients, offer social and recreational support, organize and lead client-focused programs as needed, and advocate on behalf of clients when necessary. The MSSP Shift Lead will also accompany clients to appointments. Furthermore, the MSSP Shift Lead will undertake responsibilities such as welcoming and training new team members and collaborating with other teams, including the Supervisor(s), MSSP and the Manager of Mobile Community Health Services. Effective communication between TNG and site operators is crucial to ensure that the needs of our clients are met efficiently. Additionally, you will actively contribute to overdose prevention and response, safety planning, and the enhancement of harm reduction practices through various strategies and advocacy efforts. The ideal candidate for this position will embody the philosophies of our Agency and Peer Program, adhering diligently to all policies, procedures, and requirements. Reporting directly to the Manager, Mobile Community Health Services you will be an integral part of our team. Please be aware that the MSSP Shift Lead will work across various sites, including COVID isolation sites, shelters, respites, encampments, and all warming centers. Ability to work on weekends, statutory holidays, and overnight shifts is required.

  • Peer Support Worker - Crystal Meth Project/The 519 - Part-Time - Contract

    The Neighbourhood Group (TNG) leads the Crystal Meth Project (CMP), an innovative harm reduction program that provides support, reduces stigma, and promotes the health and well-being of people who use crystal meth and other stimulants. One of CMP's core programs is Centre Ice, a low-barrier afternoon drop-in located at 260 Augusta Avenue, where community members can access harm reduction supplies, hygiene products, laundry services, emergency clothing, snacks, peer support, referrals, and community-building activities.

    As a Peer Support Worker, you will be part of the team supporting The 519, a non-profit organization and community centre serving the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Toronto's Church and Wellesley neighbourhood. Working within The 519's Drop-In Program on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, you will provide peer support, facilitate groups, and connect community members to services and resources. You will also help foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment using a harm reduction, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive approach.

  • Relief Employment Advisor/Facilitator, Integrated Employment Services

  • Relief Overdose Prevention Worker

    The Relief Overdose Prevention Worker provides coverage for the Kensington Market Overdose Prevention Site (KMOPS) and the Mobile Overdose Prevention Program within The Neighbourhood Group’s Urban Health & Homelessness Services team. This role supports people who use drugs, many experiencing homelessness or at high risk of overdose, by providing overdose prevention and response, provide information and connection to supplies, crisis intervention, and referrals to health, housing, and income supports. Relief staff may be scheduled at the fixed site or with the Mobile team in nearby parks and encampments, with a focus on creating safer spaces, building relationships, and supporting access to care.

  • Team Lead - SafeSpot

    SafeSpot (formerly Shelter-Hotel Overdose Prevention Project) offers overdose prevention services for shelter residents who use drugs including witnessing drug use/” spotting”, opioid overdose reversal, creation of overdose prevention safety plans, distribution of harm reduction tools, and training with residents, shelter and security staff as necessary. The Team Lead–SafeSpot will work collaboratively with the Manager, Community Peer Harm Reduction Programs, shelter-operators, and other partner agencies to establish and support peer-driven overdose prevention initiatives at identified sheltering sites. The Team Lead–SafeSpot will assist in the identification, recruitment, training, scheduling, and supporting of peers to ensure quality and efficiency in the delivery of overdose prevention and response services for residents of shelters-hotels. The Team Lead–SafeSpot will uphold the philosophies of the Agency/peer program and follow all policies, procedures, and requirements.

  • Youth Outreach Worker – 211 Crisis Response - Contract

    This position provides a range of outreach services to youth aged 16+ and their families in the Taylor Massey/Oakridge and Golden Mile communities. This position has responsibility for prevention, early intervention, referrals, and community outreach services. The position reports into the Manager, Children and Youth Services and is part of CUPE Local 7797. This Youth Outreach Worker will be an integral part of the Toronto Community Crisis Service (TCCS) team. The TCCS team provides a community-based response to mental health and/or substance use crises across Toronto, utilizing an equity based, anti-racist, person-centred, trauma-informed response. TCCS is designed to move away from unnecessary police responses wherever possible, and connect people to the resources they need in the community. The Youth Outreach Worker – 211 Response, will conduct a needs assessment, and provide referrals to youth and their families, when referred by 211 crisis responders. Hours of work are 35 hours per week, on a schedule that will include evenings and weekends. Every shift will be from 10:00am to 6:00pm.
